Nigeria striker Obafemi Martins has joined Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua in a multi-million dollar deal, BBC Sport can reveal. The 31-year-old makes the switch from Seattle Sounders, where he scored 43 goals in 84 appearances for the MLS club he joined in March 2013. Martins was linked with a move back to the Premier League in the January window, but British agent Tony Harris along with the player's attorney Soroosh Abdi brokered the deal taking the Super Eagle to China instead.

Mr Mahama Ayariga

The most sought after information regarding how much of the public's purse was expended on the Ghanaian contigent at the just-ended 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) is now an open secret.

Sports Minister, Mr Mahama Ayariga, on Wednesday told Parliament that Ghana’s participation in the 2015 AFCON, cost the country about GH₵17.9million or US$8million.

According to him, GH₵ 17,919,392.70 was the sum of government’s commitment to the preparation and adventures of the Black Stars in the tournament.

Sport Ministry Proposed New Bonus For Black Stars, AFCON ’15

The Ministry of Youth and Sports is proposing a new bonus package for the senior national team; the Black Stars for the upcoming 2015 AFCON tournament.

The proposal would replace the tiered bonus package which paid incremental wining bonuses for each game won as the tournament progressed.

According to the new proposal, each player will receive a flat match appearance fee of $5,000 per game regardless of the outcome or which stage of the tournament they get to.

This would amount to $30,000 for six games played if they were to make it to the final.

Head coach of Ghana’s U-23[Black Meteors] team, Malik Jabir has pruned down his squad from 30 to 23.

The Black Meteors have been camping at the Ghanaman Soccer center of Excellence in prampram for the past one month ahead of their All-African games qualifier against Liberia.

The team which travelled last month to Nigeria to take on the Super Eagles in an international friendly are scheduled to take on their West African counterparts [Liberia] in March next year.

Gov't Invites Football Administrators' to Review Ghana Football

Government has invited about sixty (60) Eminent Football Administrators to review the country's football and advice on a national strategy.

The initiative is a collaboration between the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Ghana Football Association.

The Eminent Football Administrators will reflect on developments in the area of competitive football and fashion out a national response strategy.

This could be seen as major step in reviewing the Black Stars poor showing at the 2014 World Cup tournament in Brazil which led to a first round exit.

21 year old German-American, John Brooks headed in a late winner for USA in a dramatic finale to their opening Group G game against Ghana.

And what a match it was! Despite jumping out to an 1-0 early lead, the USA fought back a vicious Ghana attack before conceding the equalizer in the 82nd minute.
